A survey conducted in March 2022 in the United States found that a third of Hispanic adults were somewhat interested in creating an avatar to represent them in the metaverse, and 23 percent were very interested. Overall, 31 percent of Black adults were somewhat interested, and one-quarter were very interested. Additionally, 44 percent of white adults and 35 percent of respondents of other ethnicities were not at all interested in the idea.
