According to India's 2019 Time Use Survey, approximately 94 percent of women aged between 15 and 59 years participated in unpaid work that year, compared to just under 50 percent of their male counterparts. On the other hand, the share of women in this age bracket engaged in paid work was much lower than that of men, at respectively 20.6 percent and nearly 70 percent.
