According to a March 2021 analysis of the leading dating apps for iOS users, a large number of mobile dating apps required users to provide their email address and phone number, as well as a personal name. With the exception of the Chinese-developed Soul, which only requires users' mobile numbers to sign in, the examined leading dating apps like Tinder and Badoo required users to provide an email address and their name. None of the examined leading apps collected payment information that would make users immediately identifiable or data on their credit information. Among the examined apps, the majority appeared to collect sensitive data such as political opinion and trade union membership, as well as sexual orientation and biometric data.
