According to a July 2021 survey, the main reason for taking a trip among travelers from the United States was to go on vacation. More than half of the respondents also mentioned they traveled for business purposes. The ranking also revealed some emerging travel trends, including the emergence of a large number of rescheduled trips due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Solo trips and remote work trips were two other trends that made it into the ranking, with approximately 20 percent and 15 percent of Americans planning to travel for these reasons as of July 2021, respectively.
