As of December 2023, around 1.43 million applications for environmental bonuses were filed in Germany after buying a battery electric vehicle. The statistic shows the number of purchase grant applications for electric vehicles, also known as an environmental bonus, in Germany between July 2016 and December 2023. The German federal government granted an environmental bonus for the purchase (purchase or leasing) of electric vehicles if they are registered for the first time and the net list price of the basic model does not exceed 65,000 euros. The government announced in 2023 that the program was ending.
