Arctic oil and gas production has been on a growing trend since, at least, the beginning of the last decade. In 2022, Russia's production of Arctic oil and gas amounted to some 10.65 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, being by far the largest producer across the globe. The majority of oil production in Russia is located in the Arctic region.
Meanwhile, Norway's Arctic production increased in recent years, reaching nearly 487,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2022. Production in the U.S. followed closely, amounting to some 484 billion barrels of oil equivalent that year.
