In 2023, the Volkswagen Group recorded nearly 256,500 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle deliveries, a 4.4 percent increase compared to its 2022 volume. The brand's 2021 performance was put into perspective on March 31, 2022, when Volkswagen's parent company recalled some 42,300 hybrid cars in the Passat, Golf, Tiguan, and Arteon model lines.
