As of the second quarter of 2021, Showmax accounted for 31.6 percent of the Subscription Video-on-Demand (SVoD) subscribers in Africa, the highest share among the providers. In the same period, Netflix had a market share slightly below 30 percent. VideoPlay, which was only available in South Africa, followed registering around 27 percent of the total SVoD subscriptions in Africa.
