To fight a new wave of coronavirus infections in early 2022, the government in Hong Kong announced the extension and tightening of social distancing measures such as allowing no more than two persons per group gathering in a public place, prohibition of multi-household gatherings at private premises involving more than two households, etc. According to a survey conducted among Hong Kong residents in February 2022, around 49 percent of respondents thought the planned extension of these measures was reasonable.
