Number of people employed in South Africa 2023-2024, by working hours

As of the first quarter of 2024, the majority of the employed individuals (around 9.3 million people) in South Africa worked from 40 to 45 hours per week. Some 4.67 million worked over 45 hours weekly, while close to 1.14 million worked from 15 to 29 hours per week in the same period. On the other hand, the number of individuals with less than 15 hours work week was only 582,000.
