In 2022, people aged 25 to 44 years was the age group that received the highest number of Swedish citizenships. Within this age group, over 42,000 people acquired a Swedish citizenship, followed by people between 45 and 64 years of age. On the other hand, people aged over 65 was the age group receiving the fewest citizenships that year. Overall in the past decade, the total number of Swedish citizenship acquisitions per year increased. In order to apply for a Swedish citizenship, several requirements must be met. The requirements include being 18 years or older, being able to prove your identity, and residing in Sweden.
