According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) data, the Baffin Bay sea ice extent was 0.43 million square kilometers in October 2023. Warmer air temperatures in all seasons and severe sea ice loss, ecological changes, and ice sheet mass loss are rapidly transforming the Arctic environment.
