Number of employed people in Norway 2022, by industry and gender

In Norway, there is a clear difference between where men and women typically work. Human health and social work activities, as well as education, are industries dominated by women. On the other hand, construction, manufacturing, and mining and quarrying are industries typically dominated by men. Meanwhile, the numbers are pretty evenly divided within public administration, defense, and social security, as well as within accommodation and food services activities. In 2022, while there were 460,000 women working within human health and social work activities, compared to only 117,000 men.
