In 2021, 2,417 hate crimes were recorded by the police in the Netherlands, which is an increase compared to the previous year, when there were 2,133 hate crimes recorded, approximately 300 fewer. The fewest number of hate crimes recorded by the police since 2009 was in the year 2019, whilst the highest number of hate crimes recorded was in 2014 with 5,721 hate crimes recorded by the police.
