In 2021, 1,591 hate crimes were recorded by the police in Belgium, which is a decrease compared to the previous time period, when there were 1,750 hate crimes recorded, approximately 150 more crimes. The lowest number of hate crimes recorded by the police since 2009 was in the year 2013 with only 375, whilst the highest number of hate crimes recorded was in the previous time peiod.
