Abstention rate in parliamentary elections in France 1958-2024
Since 1997, the abstention rate during the French legislative elections increased, going from around 32 percent to 52.5 percent in 2022, during the first round. However, on the 9th of June 2024, after the results of the European elections and the important score of the National Rally, France's first far-right party, President Emmanuel Macron dissolved the National Assembly and called for legislative elections. French people showed their interest in that election, and the abstention rate fell to 33 percent in the first round, the lowest level in 27 years.
