In 2023, the number of South Korean children adopted abroad amounted to 79, down from 142 in the previous year. The number of adopted boys significantly exceeded that of girls. While international adoptions from South Korea have declined sharply over the past two decades, South Korean adoptees still made up the fifth-largest national group of U.S. overseas adoptions in 2018.
