In 2020, most of the public transit vehicles in the United States were equipped enough to transport all passengers, including people with physical limitations. As of that year, the accessibility of heavy rail vehicles (subway/metro) was 100 percent, similar to the 99 percent accessibility rate from the fixed-route buses. This does not mean that the accessibility of U.S. public transport is at its best, as accessibility to stations has to be taken into account.
