Since 2013, a total of approximately 272 billion U.S. dollars of equity investments have been made in space companies worldwide. Applications made up the majority of investments - these applications were described as "a collective term for all hardware and software systems that leverage space-based infrastructure and distribution to perform specialized tasks for an end market/s".
