In 2021, mobile apps and contactless payments accounted for the largest share of fraud losses among e-merchants in the United States. According to a study, nearly half (48 percent) of fraud losses in mobile channels in the U.S. came from mobile app payments. Meanwhile, 18 percent resulted from payments made by tapping a phone against a contactless card reader.
