In 2020, amidst a COVID-19 pandemic that enforced lockdowns and prioritized distance learning all over the world, over 91 percent of households with minors in Mexico had access to cell phones and more than 93 percent had access to a television. However, less than 40 percent of these households had access to a computer or tablet and the internet. The resources available at home for students amidst the COVID-19 lockdown in Mexico have been scarce, making the task of digital learning difficult. Children in indigenous families and in households where the head has low level of education had limited access to this technology, consequently, they were in disadvantage when it comes to distance learning
