According to a November 2021 survey of global internet users, many of them were interested in joining the metaverse for gaming or creative activities. A total of 43 percent of respondents stated that they felt that the metaverse would make online gaming more popular, and a further 41 percent felt the same about content creation.
The metaverse is likely to have a significant impact on the developmental trajectory of video games. There is an evenly distributed interest in the opportunities that the metaverse might afford the video game business. Most seem to emphasize the impact on the social side of video games, whether it be through content creation or online gaming.
