Most used in-store (POS) payment methods in Malaysia 2017-2024, with 2030 forecast
Malaysians increasingly use credit cards and wallets in favor of cash in physical stores, as the market share of cash declined further. That said, it was still one of the most popular POS payment method as nearly 23 percent of all money spent in-store was paid for with paper money or coins. Malaysia is regarded as a fast growing market for mobile payments, as it is starting to catch up to other Southeast Asian countries when it comes to mobile commerce. Two of the main mobile wallets are forecast to see their user count double between 2020 and 2025.
