Most used in-store (POS) payment methods in Finland 2017-2023, with 2027 forecast
Debit cards constituted the majority of in-store payments in Finland, whilst the market share of credit cards was much smaller. The COVID-19 pandemic did not have a major impact on the use of card payments in the Scandinavian country: The use of both debit cards and credit cards increased, but not at a significant pace. Opposed to this is the continued decline of cash in physical stores. The source does point to the growing use of digital wallets in Finland, sparked by a relatively high penetration of PayPal within Finland, as well as the growing popularity of Denmark's MobilePay and Sweden's Nordea Wallet.
