As of August 2022, 60 percent of U.S. participants identifying as liberal reported intentions of buying an electric or hybrid vehicle for their next car purchase. In contrast, 45 percent of conservative respondents intended to buy an electric or hybrid car. Around 31 percent of conservative respondents reported an interest in purchasing a diesel or petrol vehicle.

The question "When discussing politics, people often mention “conservatism” and “liberalism”. Where would you say your political position lies on this scale?" was used to separate respondents in four groups: 202 respondents identified as liberal, 331 respondents identified as moderate, 204 respondents identified as conservative, and 147 respondents did not wish to answer. The original answers provided were "Very liberal", "Liberal", "Moderate", "Conservative", "Very conservative", and "Do not wish to answer". Respondents identifying as "liberal' and "very liberal" were added together in these results. The same has been done for respondents identifying as "conservative" and "very conservative".
