The art and antique auction market in China is generally dominated by Chinese paintings, calligraphy, porcelain, and jade objects. In 2021, the total hammer price of modern Chinese paintings and calligraphy works amounted to almost 10 billion yuan. When combined with classical and contemporary Chinese paintings, they contributed almost half of the overall hammer price at art and antique auctions in China.
