In 2021, Porcelain, jade and curio were the most prominent categories in the Chinese art auction market, contributing a significant share of the overall hammer price at art and antique auctions in the country. Modern Chinese paintings and calligraphy lots also contributed almost 30 percent of the total auction sales in China, while stamp and coin sales represented around three percent of the total hammer price at Chinese auctions, due to their lower average value compared to other types of art and antique objects.
