Paid downloads appeared to be a less frequent monetization option, but still interested 2.4 percent of the highest-ranking gaming apps, as well as 1.51 percent of the highest-ranking health and fitness apps. Approximately 88 percent of all finance apps were free, while around 11.5 percent adopted a freemium model. Approximately 83 percent of the highest-grossing social media apps adopted a freemium model, while more than 17 percent were fully free.
