Roughly half of U.S. registered voters support the government's sanctions on Russian oil exports. In the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the U.S. administration has imposed sanctions on Russia that also include trading of oil and gas. According to a survey from March 2022, 52 percent of Democrats and 46 percent of Republicans said they would welcome sanctions on oil even if it causes prices to rise. However, the same survey also found that nearly 70 percent of U.S. registered voters are very concerned over the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war on gasoline prices at home.
