Non-performing loan (NPL) amount of banks in Japan 2015-2024
As of March 2024, the value of non-performing loans of banks in Japan based on the Financial Reconstruction Act, FRA for short, amounted to around 9.6 trillion Japanese yen, reaching a decade high. Loans categorized as doubtful accounted for the largest share of non-performing loans. The value of non-performing loans had dropped to a low of 6.7 trillion yen in 2018.
