There are a variety of terms used to describe a code one enters during checkout for the purposes of buying products or services at a discounted price. Approximately 44 percent of surveyed consumers in the United States called it a "promo code", making it the most commonly used name for the concept. About three in ten U.S. consumers also referred to it as a "discount code", while only a handful of respondents called them "voucher codes."
