The tourism industry in Hungary was severely affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak which led to a decrease in the number of guest arrivals at travel accommodation establishments. In April 2021, only 57 thousand domestic tourists spent guest nights at accommodation establishments. However, figures picked up over the following months and peaked at 970 thousand domestic guest nights in August 2021.
