The global production of cardboard was estimated to be 66 million tons in 2020. Cardboard output is forecast to increase to more than 72 million tons by 2022. This would be an increase of more than 25 percent compared with cardboard production in 2015. Although the term cardboard is often used interchangeably with corrugated board, they are different materials with different properties. For example, corrugated board is made up of three layers.
