As of September 2023, the number of full-size zero-emission transit buses (ZEBs) placed in operational service and actively running in service in the United States amounted to 6147 units, representing an increase of more than 11 percent from the previous year. California remained the state with the highest number of active ZEBs, with 1,946 units, followed by New York with 742 units.
