During the second half of 2023, government and court bodies from Russia requested the removal of over 299,000 items from all Google platforms. Over the observed period, the lowest figure was recorded in the first six months of 2016.

In November 2017, an amendment to Russian law (276-FZ) increased government’s scope for requesting URLs containing material banned in Russia to be removed from Google's online services, including Google Search.
