As of November 30, 2023, the utility-transport helicopter BK117 was the aircraft most produced with the involvement of Japanese manufacturers, adding up to 1,919 helicopters since the first delivery in the fiscal year 1982. This helicopter was jointly developed by Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (MBB; today, Airbus Helicopters Deutschland GmbH) and Kawasaki Heavy Industries.
