Due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine that started on February 24, 2022, several international companies announced suspending their operations in Russia. One of them was the Spanish fashion retailer Inditex. The Russian market accounted for 8.5 percent of the company's global EBIT (earnings before interest and tax) in 2020. Furthermore, sales in Russia were estimated to occupy nearly one percent of Apple's total revenue in 2020.
