Between 2017 and the end of 2020, Meta found that 27 of all the Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior (CIB) networks taken down from its platforms originated in Russia. Iran presented the second-highest number of CIB networks operating on Meta platforms in the examined period. Myanmar and the United States generated the third-highest number of CIB networks, with nine networks originating in each country, respectively.

Meta defines Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior, or CIB "as coordinated efforts to manipulate public debate for a strategic goal where fake accounts are central to the operation."
Meta further defines Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior, or CIB as "any coordinated network of accounts, Pages, and Groups that centrally relies on fake accounts to mislead Facebook and people using our services about who is behind it and what they are doing."
