In recent years, travel companies worldwide have shown an increasing interest in the subscription model, with some businesses starting to introduce either monthly or annual membership plans. While these schemes vary significantly in terms of offers and fees, they generally include more flexibility when booking trips or accommodation, as well as members-only discounts and perks. For instance, U.S. firm Inspirato developed a subscription-based business model targeting the luxury travel market. As of March 2022, it offered Inspirato Pass members the opportunity to book a series of exclusive travel stays and experiences for a monthly fee of 2,500 U.S. dollars. Meanwhile, lodging companies Selina and citizenM aunched offers that allow subscribers to flexibly reserve travel accommodation for a monthly fixed rate.
