Renewable energy projects in Ghana 2020, by installed capacity and status

Renewables are part of the main energy sources exploited in Ghana. As of 2020, more than ten renewable energy projects were identified in the country, some of which had been commissioned, under construction, or at the stage of implementation and funding. For instance, the PMDP-Solar Component project, with a renewable energy capacity of 50 megawatt hours, had reached an implementation stage whereby preparations were being made to commence construction. Additionally, with an installed capacity of 6.54 megawatt peak, the 17MW Solar PV 2020 project was commissioned. Overall, renewables are forecast to occupy 35 percent of the total final energy consumption in Ghana in 2022.
