In 2020, domestic demand for portland cement in South Korea lay at over 38.5 million tons, while a further 8.64 million tons of slag cement were in demand. Portland cement is the most commonly used type of cement worldwide, and used for a wide variety of things such as concrete and mortar. Slag cement has similar uses, and has shown higher strengths and durability in the long-term, whilst also being cheaper.
