In 2019, around five percent of all commuters in the U.S. used public transport to get to work. From the public transit commuters, 46.3 percent traveled on a bus, thus making it the most popular transit mode for U.S. workers. The subway or elevated rail came second, with almost 38 percent of the American workforce commuting by public transportation using it.
