Distribution of income by percentile Spain 2023

In 2023, top one percent of wage earners in Spain accounted for 12 percent of the overall pre-tax national income of the country. The bottom 50 percent of earners, getting an average income of 11,000 euros (PPP), contributed to 34 percent of Spain's national income.

Pre-tax national income is the sum of all pre-tax personal income flows accruing to the owners of the production factors, labor and capital, before taking into account the operation of the tax/transfer system, but after taking into account the operation of pension system.
The base unit is the individual (rather than the household) but resources are split equally within couples.
