In 2022, the Netherlands spent the most of its defence expenditure on personnel with 38.84 percent, despite its share decreasing somewhat since 2014 when it was 56.5 percent. Instead, an increasing share has been spent on equipment, as it was just 10.68 percent of the total expenditure in 2014 compared to 23.74 percent in 2022. The expenditure share of infrastructure has stayed somewhat stable, ranging between 3.02 percent and 4.77 percent.
