Average side dish number to a meal in Japan 2021
According to a survey conducted in Japan in July 2021, three dishes were the most common number of sides accompanying a rice meal in Japanese households. More than 44 percent of respondents stated that they ate around three side dishes during meal times, whereas only 3.2 percent would prepare six or more for rice.
