Number of young women receiving free HPV vaccination Japan FY 2013-2022
In the fiscal year 2022, approximately 540.7 thousand people received the third dose of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine in Japan, which represented a notable increase compared to the preceding year. Japanese municipalities offer free periodic HPV vaccinations for women aged between 11 and 16 years. The government announced to resume a recommendation campaign for the vaccine from 2022 after a long pause due to reports of side effects.
