The total volume of international exports from and imports into the separatist Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR) was measured at 4.4 billion U.S. dollars in 2020. These territories claimed themselves independent from Ukraine in 2014. In February 2022, Russia formally recognized their sovereignty.
