The value of reinsurance premiums worldwide almost doubled between 2017 and 2022. In 2022, global reinsurance premiums reached a value of 400 billion U.S. dollars - an increase of about 16 billion U.S. dollars from the previous year. Reinsurance is gaining in importance as the frequency and severity of natural disaster losses rises.
