Software developers' average age when writing their first line of code worldwide 2021
The majority of software developers globally surveyed for this study stated that they wrote their first line of code between the ages of 11 and 17 years. Furthermore, around 14 percent of respondents wrote their first coding line between five to ten years old. This indicates that around 67 percent of developers surveyed globally wrote their first line of code before turning 18 years old.
