Clove exports from Zanzibar, Tanzania's semi-autonomous archipelago, amounted to roughly 115 billion Tanzanian shillings (TZS), nearly 50 million U.S. dollars in 2021. That same year, the export value of seaweed increased to 12 billion TZS (5.6 million U.S. dollars). Both items made up Zanzibar's main cash crops.
